P4 in Singapore Marina Bay - F1 Support Race
Sepang, Malaysia - F1 Support Race
The first PCCA race of the season took place in Sepang, Malaysia during the Formula 1 opening. It was not the season's start we expected. Benjamin missed the only 30 minutes practice of the week-end. The radiator exploded in the first corner of his first lap. He brings back the car slowly (5km) to the pit, as he was still expecting that the team could fix it to catch few laps in the last minutes. Anyway, the team couldn't do anything as it took longer than expected. Benjamin get 250$ penalty for bringing back the car to the pit, it was forbidden to bring it back as the radiator was licking water on the track.
The first set was much more to check the track condition, the F1 Qualify had a short shower in the last minutes, and few corners were still completely wet. So, it was tricky conditions at the beginning. For the second set of tyres, Benjamin managed to do P8. Disappointing as it's my worst PCCA qualify position. However, we haven’t had an easy week-end beginning. The track changed a lot from the official test. The Pirelli grip is not suitable at all from the Michelin one. It makes the track really slippery.
On Sunday, Benjamin had a quiet race. He managed to do a good start to be P6 at the end of the first lap. We are happy to bring back 10 points home. At the same time we don't have to forget the goal for this coming season who is to be top 3 at the end of the season.
As Benjamin says “We have now 2 weeks before next F1 Chinese Grand-Prix opening in Shanghai. It's a home race for me, I put even more expectation as I have friends coming to support me”. Moreover, it's also a home race for Yongda. The group is based in Shanghai and the dealer we represent (Wuxi) is less than 1h from Shanghai. I definitely want to be on the Podium. And I am already 100% in this coming week end.
